Caudalie Grape Water – Three times a charm

If you have been around for a while, you may remember my utter disappointment after trying a few Caudalie products. Another overhyped French brand I thought to myself, loved for being French and their Instagram worthy floral prints.

Especially the “cult favorite”, the infamous Beauty Elixier (Read my review here) made me almost loose interest completely. But the constant appearance all over the blogosphere and the fact that you can’t do one step when on holiday in France without having it shoved into your face made me weak.

Caudalie Grape Water

Just one more thing, I said. Just one.

Why I did end up purchasing the biggest size available though will forever remain a mystery. I guess the “sale” sticker had fogged my mind.

So, once again, Caudalie. The Caudalie Grape Water, to be precise. Did that one at last convince me?

What Caudlaie claims:

A signature, 100 percent organic formula that’s suitable for even the most sensitive skin and extracted directly from grapes in Bordeaux, with the dual power to both increase hydration and reduce sensitivity.

  • Hydrates the skin
  • Soothes the most sensitive skin
  • Preservative-free. Fragrance-free

Facts:

Prize and size

As I mentioned above, I got the big bottle, which is, of course, the best value for money. 200 ml are 22$ on the Caudalie website, while the 75 ml cost 13 $ here. But the small size is perfect for carrying around in your gym bag or purse, the big bottle is way too bulky for that.

The mist – too fine to see

Texture and smell

You know I am very picky about my face spritzes, but this one did convince. It delivers a very fine mist, distributed evenly from the can. There is no particular scent to the product. I would describe it as fresh with maybe a hint of grape.

Application and effects

I used it as part of my morning or evening skincare routine as well as to freshen up throughout the day. Both ways work great, and even though it is hard to tell for sure I felt like my face was soothed and more hydrated after application.

Favorable ingredients:

  • Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Water: Hydrating, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory
  • Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Juice: Hydrating, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory

Unfavorable Ingredients:

None. The ingredient list end there.

Does it live up to its claims?

Yes.

It is soothing and hydrating. I can´t vouch for the toning effect, but I guess it has the antioxidants to back up that claim as well.

Would I repurchase?

Yes.

I am glad I bought the big bottle, as I can see it lasting me quite a while, but I think I will grab one of the smaller ones for my purse next time I am in France.

Who do I recommend it to?

Anyone.

Really, anyone.

If you get hot easily or if you suffer from redness, if you want to freshen up after exercise or hydrate the skin after cleansing, that one is the product to go to.

And it is free of all the nasties that the Beauty Elixier so shamelessly flaunted in its ingredient list.

Sometimes not giving up really pays off. Had I not been lured in by sale stickers and beauty bloggers, I might have given up already and missed out on a product that I now no longer want to miss in my routine.

A metaphor for life? Like, never give up looking for the good? Ah, I think that would be too much. It is just skincare after all. But in this case, a highly recommendable one.
