If you’ve diligently cared for your face but largely ignored your neck and chest, you might now see sun damage, fine lines, and that crepey texture creeping in. So if you’re wondering if you can still reverse this, maybe by using something like the Currentbody LED Neck & Décolletage Mask, you have come to the right place.

I certainly have not taken care of my chest as good as I have of my face, and that’s exactly why I’ve been testing the CurrentBody LED Neck & Décolletage Mask for the past eight weeks — to see whether it can actually make a difference on mature skin that’s been through decades of UV.
In todays post, I’ll share my before and after photos, talk about my results, and if it is more than just an expensive gadget

Facts about the CurrentBody LED Neck & Décolletage Mask
Prize and size
If you decide to purchase just the neck and decolletage mask, it will cost 399,99 € on the website here (80 € more than the Series 1 version).
There is also the option of buying it in a set with the Series 2 face mask, which will cost you 759,99 €. The face mask Series 2 is available for 499,99 € when purchased individually, meaning you save 139,99 € if you do that.

Technical details of the CurrentBody LED Neck & Décolletage Mask
Looking at the technical details we will focus on wavelengths used, irradiance and number and distribuiton of LEDs, as these are the things you should look for when buying. (More info: The benefits of LED Light Therapy for skin rejuvenation explained)
Currentbody tells you that this mask has 229 LED lamps in total, out of which 9 are the deep near-infrared ones that are exclusive to Series 2. That leaves 220 lamps for both red and near-infrared, most likely 110 each. Now the number of lights is out of the three the least important factor, as long as even coverage of your face is ensured, ten more or less won’t have an impact, but 229 is a decent number.
The wavelengths used are 633 nm for Red Light, 830 nm for Near Infrared Light and 1072 nm for Deep Near-Infrared Light. This is exactly what most studies done recommend for Red and Near-Infrared – as I already mentioned in my review of the Currentbody Series 2 LED Face Mask (More info: Currentbody Series 2 LED Face Mask Review) I can’t really give a recommendation for Deep Near-Infrared based on the data available to me.
With the Veritace Card included in every box you can trace the individual test results for your mask, so you’d see that even if on average 830 nm would be emitted, your personal mask would be more on the 835 nm spectrum for example. If that is important in the grand scheme of things I don’t know, but I like the extra effort.
The irradiance, called power density in the user manual, is at 30 mW/cm². 40 – 150 mW/ cm² is the desired range according to the data we have, but is rarely found in at home devices. A higher irradiance would make for a shorter wear time, but I think the ten minutes here are reasonable.

Difference between the Series 1 and the Series 2 CurrentBody LED Neck & Décolletage Mask
Now if you already have the Series 1 and are wondering if you need to upgrade, or if you are looking to buy one and are considering the cheaper alternative, which one would I say you’d need?
First and foremost, I don’t think the visible difference will be huge – results are expected to be subtle, and while a difference between both might exist, it would most likely take years until it gets noticeable with the bare eye. But sometimes it isn’t about what we see, but about what we know, so let’s compare them side by side:
Series 2 covers a larger area than Series 1. I don’t have Series 1 to compare them side by side, but apparently it is 24% larger, meaning you cover more of your chest area in one go.
Series 2 also has a lot more lamps – 229 compared to the 50 in Series 1. Yes, due to the increase in size that was needed, but still it is quite a bit more, making even coverage more likely.
Then there are the 9 lamps emitting Deep Near Infra Red, placed in a straight line down the middle of your decollete to specifically target the wrinkles you get there form constantly mushing your boobs together when sleeping or wearing a push up bra. I admit I can’t say if that really moves the needle, as mentioned before the data on Deep Near Infrared is even more limited than the data on LED Light Therapy in general, but I assume it at least doesn’t hurt to have them.
A downside of the Series 2 seems to be the need to be charged more frequently. People commented on that when I reviewed the corresponding face mask, and after using it for more than a year now I agree that while the Series 1 still lasts me two weeks without charging, pushing on three, my Series 2 one now need to be charged weekly. So far that isn’t true for the neck mask, I can still go two to three weeks between charges, but this is something that seems to come with time.
In general my recommendation would be for those looking to buy for the first time, to go for the Series 2 as I think the improvements more than justify the 80 € etxra. If you already own and enjoy your Series 1 neck and decolletage mask, keep using it until it breaks – those things don’t last forever, so you can always purchase the newer version once the old one is done.

How to use the CurrentBody LED Neck & Décolletage Mask
Using it is easy. After you have charged it – it won’t work when plugged in – you put it on neck and chest and press the button on the controller. The controller has a clip on function, so you can walk around hands-free even if you don’t have pockets, but I admit I prefer lying down when doing my LED treatment anyway. After ten minutes, the device will turn off on its own, so even if you fall asleep or are so caught up in your book you loose track of time, you won’t overdo the treatment.
It is supposed to be used on clean skin, although they do sell hydrogel masks to go with it that apparently increase the effect of the mask. For my neck there was quite a bit of strap left, I didn’t manage to get it completely snug, so I think it will fit most neck sizes.
If you want to use it on other places than your chest, on your back or on your stomach for example, that will work as well. There is a second strap included in the box that lets you secure it basically anywhere.
To clean it, you just wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth and you are ready to go again. 4 to 5 times a week is the recommended frequency, and for me that fits pretty well into my routine.

My eight weeks before and after
So what are my results, two months in?
Subtle, as I expected.
I don’t have many wrinkles on neck and décolletage, my main concern is the sun damage earned through careless exposure over decades. Neck and décolletage are exposed to the sun more frequently than we realise, and while a lot of us, myself included, is pretty diligent with sunscreen for the face, anything south of the chin is often forgotten. (More info: How to best take care of your neck and décolletage)
That means there are sun spots and especially right where the shirt would end, skin that is thickened and uneven. This is NOT what a mask like this is best at targeting, as I said before the goal here is to stimulate collagen production, which will make the skin appear plumper and firmer, but will not really affect pigmentation.
Keeping that in mind, here is the before and after, taken eight weeks apart. As I said, subtle results and in my opinion not really a noticeable difference in wrinkle depth or sun spots. But, and I am not sure if that is picking up on camera, I feel my skin looks plumper and more radiant overall. Might be I am just imagining things – so far no one has approached me to comment on how juicy my chest looks. Then again I would probably consider that inappropriate anyway.

Is the CurrentBody LED Neck & Décolletage Mask worth the investment?
I have tried the CurrentBody LED Neck & Décolletage Mask Series 2 featuring a larger surface area, additional LED lamps and 9 LEDs emitting Deep Near Infrared for eight weeks on my décolletage and neck. It was easy and convenient to use and fit very well in my routine.
Did the results blow me away? Do I consider it a necessity for everyone?
Absolutely not.
It is, just like any other at home device, an extra for those that do everything else already and have the money to spare. Still, just like with the corresponding face mask, I will keep using it. Even if the effects are subtle, I still feel my skin looks more radiant than it did before, and at my age I take all the help I can get. But, and that is an important but, if you haven’t mastered SPF and a solid skincare routine, start there before investing in LED.
