When you constantly buy new products for testing (*cough*) reasons, inevitable you will find some that just won’t work for you.
And as much as I like to write reviews urging you to run out and buy stuff, I figured it could be of some use to tell you what I already wasted money on to save yours.
Todays edition features a drugstore eyebrow pencil, a concealer/eye cream hybrid, some skincare and a lash growth serum.
A short disclaimer first:
I by no means tell you these are bad products. If you happen to love them, that is great. What may work for me might not work for you and vice versa.
Without further ado…
Garnier Miracle Skin Cream Eyes
Garnier Miracle Skin Cream Eyes |
I bought the Garnier Miracle Skin Cream Eyes (15ml for 5,90 €) by accident, as I wanted to buy a plain eye cream, but figured I would give it a go. A two-in-one to save me some time in the morning sounded great.
Just like Garniers Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream (full review here), this is a white cream that develops color when you start working it into the skin. The color itself is quite yellow, which is usually a good thing on my complexion, but the coverage is much to light for my dark circles.
If you just need a little pick-me-up, I encourage you to give it a go, but if you are a sleep-deprived mom, this won’t work.

Essence eyebrow pencil in Blonde
Essence eyebrow pencil in „Blonde“ |
I am a fan of eyebrow pencils and have gone through about three or four of MACs „Fling“, but as those are expensive I was on the hunt for a cheaper alternative.
The essence product is much cheaper, but in this case you get what you pay for. The color payoff is nonexistent, I have to warm the pencil first and then work it into the skin, and the little color I manage to deposit to my skin lasts only three to four hours.
Not impressed.
I do however love the essence long-lasting lip liners (full review here), so the brand per se is great!
Miracle Worker Dark Spot Corrector
Miracle Worker Dark Spot Corrector |
I had high hopes when I bought the Miracle Worker Dark Spot Corrector, as it contains Niacinamide, one of my preferred skincare/antiaging ingredients (More info: The benefits of Niacinamide in skincare) and is aimed at correcting dark spots and hyper pigmentation. And even though it left my skin feeling smooth and I really liked the smell, it just didn’t do anything for me.
Of course, you can never really assess longterm benefits, but during the six months I applied it every night, I just didn’t notice any change (for better or worse) in my skin.
I won´t repurchase.

Beauty Society Enormous Lash
Beauty Society Enormous Lash |
Three years ago, I started using a lash serum that worked wonders for my lashes. They grew long and thick up to the point where I had to cut them (shock-horror, I know) and nearly every mascara was good enough, because they just needed a little color to look stunning. But as I repurchased, they had changed the formula and my lashes returned back to normal.
After my pregnancy I wanted to give another Lash Growth Serum a go and purchased the Beauty Society Enormous Lash. But despite regularly applying it morning and evening, my lashes just stayed the way they were. So on goes the hunt …
