Something new for todays Skincare Stash Update: In addition to showing you my new skincare device form Currentbody, hair care from L’Oréal and makeup from e.l.f. and Maybelline, I decided to continue with what I started last month and add in a more personal update on what has been going on in my life during May.

No, I have not bought another couch and my new home office/ filming area isn’t even close to finished, but as posts like these aren’t really for people coming in from search anyway and much more for those that have been round for a while and want to know what I’m up to, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to add a little more personal stuff as well. Within limits of course – I talk about my cats, but my kids are off limit. I cherish every day they aren’t part of what is going on online.

New in from Currentbody
Just when I had finished reviewing the Currentbody Series 2 LED Face Mask (full review here), they contacted me and offered to send over the corresponding Currentbody Series 2 Neck and Decollete mask ( 1 mask for 399,99 €, full review coming soon). Now my chest is really showing signs of aging – I was late to the sunscreen game given that I grew up in the 80s and with SPF 8 considered „high protection“, and it took me even longer to accept that not only ma face, but also my chest needed regular protection.
The mask I used before was from Skinvity (Face and decollete mask for 499 €, full review here), but I much prefer the wavelengths used in Currentbodys LED devices, so I did something I haven’t done in a while and took a before picture to see if, with regular use, I can undo some of the damage already there.

New in from Qure
I reviewed the Qure Microinfusion Set earlier this year (3 months supply for 143 €, full review here, not sponsored), but have since worked with them as part of their launch in Germany over on Instagram. This post is not part of this sponsored work, but that is why I have another set here to show you. After being without it for a while, I decided I wanted to continue with the microneedling as yet another addition to what my husband lovingly calls skincare torture cabinet.

New in from L’Oréal
When I had my hair done the last few times, I always went for Olaplex and Glossing. But while I use Olaplex (and other bond repair stuff like K18 at home), I couldn’t replicate the glossing effect that gave my hair beautiful shine for the weeks after my visit to the salon. And as I don’t go to the hair dressers more than twice a year (too expensive, too busy, I basically wait until I look in the mirror and can’t cope with what I see anymore), I started looking into ways to achieve that shine at home and shortly after Beautylymin, a fellow blogger, shared the L’Oréal Paris Glycolic Gloss 5 Minute Lamination Treatment (200 ml for 8,99 €, full review coming soon) in her 5 budget beauty loves here.
I took that as a sign and purchased a bottle to see for myself. One treatment is supposed to last 5 washes, so I will report if I notice any changes to my hair after using it next time.

New in from e.l.f.
I have lamented before about what I call my „sad“ brows: They are nicely shaped and full enough (I wasn’t allowed to pluck them growing up – thanks mom!), but the hairs grow down instead of up. Like a permanent frown. I can’t count the number of brow products I have purchased to try and keep them up, both high and low end, but none so far has lived up to my expectations. Maybe it is my expectations and I need to accept that without permanently altering them, this is not going to change, but after seeing rave reviews of the e.l.f. Brow Lift (8,8 g for 7 €, full review coming soon), I am willing to try again.
So far I have tried it once, on one brow, on a day when I was sure I wouldn’t leave the house anyway. Of course, dear reader, I did end up leaving the house and by that time had completely forgotten about my little experiment, until my sister pointed out how extremely weird I looked. You really can’t beat family for keeping you grounded… The other days I have worn it, full on makeup work days, I wasn’t so sure about the staying power, so I will have to dedicate a day to combing my brows up and regularly checking in on them. All for the sake of giving you a proper review.
The applicator that comes with it has the spoolie to brush the gel through your browns and the flat thing to „laminate“ them, a procedure I have only read about, so I have absolutely no clue what to use this side for.

New in from Maybelline
The last thing I wanted to show you is a new foundation I purchased, the Maybelline Dream Radiant Liquid Hydrating Foundation in 10 (30 ml for 9,99 €, full review coming soon). It is supposed to be medium coverage, but I plan on using it with a beauty blender to make that even lighter, and in name and finish goes against everything I usually gravitate towards: I still am a matte girl by heart, so why did I purchase something called radiant? Because gradually over the last years, my skin has gone from oily to normal to dry patches, so wearing foundation can sometimes lead to flaking especially around the nose. Not a good look, and as I don’t want to start messing with primers, I figured something more hydrating would be a good choice. Let’s see!
I have the shade 10 Ivory, which is the lightest shade available in store when I purchased it, but saw that there is a lighter one available online called 03 True Ivory. Great to know as my shade is quite dark for me and can only be pulled of because I started to fake tan my face again (I use the Coco & Eve Antioxidant Face Mist for that, review here) and I opt for a light coverage.

What’s new in my personal life?
Now for the personal stuff, which will mainly be what I read and watched as there really isn’t much else going on in my life at the moment. For my books I tend to alternate, one book of the Romantasy genre, a light read to switch off and then one book of the more serious category to challenge my mind and give me things to think about. Alternating, not parallel, I am not a fan of reading multiple books at once. Probably because I don’t read more than half an hour before bed on a given day, so it takes me ages to finish one anyway, and trying to keep up with different stories would be too much for my brain. I do however read a personal development book on the side most of the time, but that really doesn’t count as reading for leisure like the others do. So yes, in May I finished „There, There“ by Tommy Orange, a novel following the stories of 12 different people from the Native American Community in present times. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but was constantly crying while reading it – a phenomenon my husband doesn’t really understand.
Netflix wise I watched Season 2 of Bonding, a show I found hilarious despite not 100% accurately portraying BDSM according to critics and sadly discontinued after the second season. To be fair, there were minor cliffhangers, but it was a good ending point, so I am not too mad about that. The best thing about that series was that episodes were under 20 minutes each and that there were only 8, so I stood a fighting chance of actually finishing it. I don’t watch much tv, even less than I read.
Oh, and I bought a new cushion for the couch, one with an octopus printed on it. It isn’t as golden as I would like, it looked way more golden online, but I still think it goes great with the couch. We also put up a shelf behind the couch so I can finally put my candle holders back up – you will be able to see that in next weeks video. It still need rearranging, the shelf went up late the night before filming day, so I just threw some stuff on it without much thinking. Now I only need a huge plant, a carpet and to get rid of about half the stuff I have piled up there and my office will look presentable!
What else is there: I did my wardrobe switch at the beginning of May – where I live you mainly need clothes for warm season and for cold season, the in-between can be done with thoughtful layering – and identified a few gaps that I will need to purchase replacements for. So far I have only bought a pair of work trousers as the ones I had were starting to fall apart. The rest, mainly shoes, will have to wait until late next month as we will be away for two weeks on holiday in what hopefully will be a sunny stay. I need some sun, as May was quite rainy over here and I am really ready for summer.
Not much to tell – that is the life of a working mum I guess.
