Doctor Anne’s Skincare Stash Update: What’s new in November – Remedy, Qure and winter sunscreens

I have a new skincare stash update and what can I say – it features no new devices! Which is I admit, a relief, as I already have a huge backlog of face masks waiting for a review. But even without the electronics, there is a ton of good stuff to show. Remedy skincare for example, founded by Dr. Muneeb Shah many of you might know from the YouTube channel Doctorly. Or Qure that send me a at home microneedling device I am actually using because it addresses all the safety concerns I voiced in my post on at home microneedling here.

Then there is the eye-wateringly expensive skincare from One Skin, a new serum from Maysama to use with their LED mask and a bunch of „winter sunscreens„, the latter not PR, but something I ordered myself to see my skin through the colder months. Should you decide to watch the video linked underneath, please don’t click off immediately after looking at my face. If I look as if I am about to die, that is because filming this video was one of the first things I did after recovering from a bad cold that took me out a little over a week. You can still see that despite all the makeup…

Remedy skincare by Dr. Muneeb Shah

New in from Remedy

Remedy skincare is the brand from Dr. Muneeb Shah, one part of the duo doing Doctorly, a channel I really enjoy on YouTube. While the launch of the brand didn’t go unnoticed, I also didn’t look into it until they approached me and offered to send some products for testing. The whole philosophy here is that you pick your main concern – healthy aging, dark spots, acne, pore control, body bumps and dry lips are available at the moment – and then get one nightly remedy that combines different ingredients targeting that concern. Perfect for minimalists that don’t want to layer a ton of products and for those confused by different ingredients and the best way to combine them.

I picked two, the Remedy for dark spots (30 ml for 44,95 €, full review coming soon) that contains Encapsulated Retinol, Mandelic Acid, Kojic Acid, Tranexamic Acid, Licorice Root Extract and Niacinamide, basically the whole list of things I featured in my post on The 10 best ingredients to target hyperpigmentation. As hyperpigmentation benefits from a multi-angle approach, that sounds very promising.

The second one is the Remedy for healthy aging (30 ml for 44,95 €, full review coming soon) containing again Encapsulated Retinol, Retinaldehyde, Glycolic Acid, Niacinamide, Peptides and Ceramides. Now I am not sure if everyone is going to be able to tolerate this combination ever night – I haven’t tried it yet, so I can’t speak of any irritation potential – but if you can, it really has a ton of things I would look for in my products.

New in from Qure

Interestingly enough Dr. Shah sits on the advisory board of this next brand, Qure skincare. Now I get  a ton of questions about microneedling, both on- and offline, and the most common one is why I don’t do it at home. My main concerns are the fact that it is near to impossible to keep the device sterile with the means you have at home, even if you try your best (and I assume some people simply wouldn’t even try), that people will use skincare with the microneedling that wasn’t designed to penetrate into the skin that deeply and that the rollers you can get from Amazon are injuring the skin because they drag it along instead of delivering a straight and small channel.

Qure offers a device with a single use head, meaning you put it on top of the device, use it and then throw it out and get a new one for the next treatment – no need to try and clean it yourself in between. They also offer a premixed solution that is specifically designed to be used with the needling, minimizing the risk for adverse reactions. And they are a stamping device, so no rolling and tearing your skin. My three main concerns solved, which is why I already did one round of this here at home. Can’t comment on the results because as I said in the introduction I fell ill and now look like sh*t, but I will report back after finishing the course of treatment here. I got the Qure Microneedling Device with a 3 months supply of the Serum Concentrate both for Dark Spots and for Wrinkles (3 months kit for 148 €, full review coming soon)and to go with it the Qure Dermal Mist (120 ml for 23,95 €, full review coming soon), a Hypochlorous Acid Spray used on your face before the procedure and whenever else you want to. (More info: The benefits of Hypochlorous Acid in skincare explained).

New in from One Skin

From the YouTube dermatologist to four PhDs in different fields setting out to unlock the secret to healthy skin: One Skin. The brand story on their website tells you that in their quest to find something that truly helps with skin health while aging, they screened a multitude of peptides until they discovered the one they wanted to build their brand around: OS-01, claiming to reverse skin aging by switching off damaged skin cells. Now those of you that have been around for a while know that this borders on a drug claim as it implies structurally changing the skin, but the products are sold as skincare.

They put their miracle ingredient in three different lines: Eye, Face and Body. The Face line contains a cleanser, a moisturizer and a SPF, the body line moisturizer and SPF and the Eye line only the eye cream, only that the moisturizers aren’t called moisturizer, but Topical Supplement. They kindly sent over the OS-01 EYE Topical Supplement (20 ml for 130,95 €, full review coming soon), the OS-01 FACE Topical Supplement (50 ml for 144,95 €, full review coming soon) and the OS-01 BODY Topical Supplement (250 ml for 118,95 €, full review coming soon).

If my introduction sounded a little sceptical, please forgive me. I am a firm believer that your best approach to well aging is by using sunscreen, a moisturizer and healthy lifestyle choices, and all that comes at a far lower price than the skincare here. However I am willing to be convinced otherwise – if the skin on my body especially could reverse age, that would be more than welcome.

Sunscreens from Beauty of Joseon, SKIN1004, Anessa and MISSHA standing in front of a dark background with white flowers
My winter sunscreens. Two favorites and two new ones

New in from Stylevana

What is a winter sunscreen? An entirely made up term to describe my preferences for sun protection in winter. While in the warmer half of the year I focus on as lightweight as possible and depending on the occasion the sweat resistance, in the colder months I want something richer that will act as moisturizer in the mornings, but still offer protection from UVA rays.

Two of the ones you’ll see here are old favorites, the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics SPF 50 (50 ml for 14 €, full review here) and the other one the SKIN1004 Hyalu Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF 50 (50 ml for 15 €, full review here) that I have repurchased numerous times since I did a sponsored post accompanying its launch. Quite frankly, I don’t really need to try others as I am perfectly content with those, but curiosity led me to getting two others.

One is the Anessa Perfect Sunscreen Skincare Milk SPF 50 (50 ml for 25 €, full review coming soon) that was recommended to me several times by you, and the second is the MISSHA All Around Safe Block Aqua Sun SPF 50 (50 ml for 11 €, full review coming soon) that I purchased for when we are out of the thick of winter and some warmer days are on the horizon.

Maysama Green Rooibos Serum Light
Maysama Green Rooibos Serum Light

New in from Maysama

You might remember my review of the Maysama Prana LED Mask here in which I mentioned their Green Rooibos Serum designed to be used underneath the mask to boost the LED effects with its antioxidant abilities. While I liked the concept, I always found the serum to be a little sticky and heavy to be comfortable underneath the mask, especially in summer. Apparently I wasn’t the only one feeling that way, as they now released the Maysama Green Rooibos Serum Light (30 ml for 49,55 €, full review coming soon) – same effect, lighter texture. I know I haven’t even reviewed the first serum properly, but I will report back if I like this one more.
