I have said it before and will say it again: I am not a fan of fall and winter and now that Halloween is behind us, I really don’t look forward to the dark and cold months ahead. Wake me up when February comes around! To fight off any negative feelings though (or evil spirits still lingering from last night), let me share what brought me joy last month in terms of new skincare and devices from Currentbody Skin, Geek and Gorgeous, Eadem, Dermelect and innbeauty Project!

Skincare Stash Update for October

I don’t think it is coincidence that Christmas with all the presents is right when the nights are longest, we all need the mood boost of new and shiny objects to get us through the following weeks. Not that I even dream of publishing a review on any of those in 2024, I have too much of a backlog of things I alreday tested to do anything other than unpack them and see if I find a space in my routine to rotate them in. But still:  Here is what arrived at my door step recently to brighten my days!

New in from Currentbody Skin LED

I have been loyal to the Currentbody Skin LED mask for 2.5 years now (you can read my review here) and only recently found one among the many I tested that I liked as well (this one here). Well, it seems that the brand took the feedback on the first version serious enough to come out with the Currentbody SKIN Series 2 LED Mask (449 €, full review coming soon).

It seems to offer an additional wavelength (I have to look into that, the ones used in the old ones were the ones I knew from the studies, so I am not sure which other one they came up with), a better fit and a part that goes underneath the chin to help firm the jaw area – great news for people like me dreading gravities effect on their facial features!

New in from Geek and Gorgeous

Another thing I have loved for many years now is the Geek and Gorgeous C-Glow Serum (30 ml for 12,50 €, full review here), one of the most repurchased items in my stash, and also the Geek and Gorgeous A-Game line. There were two options available, A-Game 5 and A-Game 10 (both reviewed here) and I regularly recommended them to friends and family looking for a good Retinal to incorporate into their routine.

Well, for those that want to increase the concentration they use, there is now the Geek and Gorgeous A-Game 20 (30 ml for 22,80 €, full review coming soon) featuring 0,2% Retinal. I didn’t know they were working on that, but after The Ordinary released their Retinal 0.2% Emulsion (full review here), it was only a matter of time until other brands followed their lead and came out with a similar concentration.

Not that you need to increase the strength of your products – if they do what you want them to do, a higher concentration isn’t necessarily better for you! (More info: How to start using retinol for beginners).

Still, it never hurts to have options!

EADEM skincare

New in from Eadem

I admit I wasn’t familiar with the brand until they contacted me. Their line of products is small, featuring five products in total (six if you count the lip balm), and all of them are marketed for women of color. Which I am, very clearly, not. What makes the products different? They claim to be more mindful about potential irritation as skin of color has a higher chance of reacting with hyperpigmentation to inflammation and they formulate without skin bleaching ingredients like Hydroquinone to shift the focus away from European Beauty Standards where skin has to be as light as possible to be deemed beautiful.

I received the EADEM Milk Marvel Dark Spot Serum (50 ml for 68 $, full review coming soon) that aims to brighten dark spots with Niacinamide, Vitamin C and Licorice Extract as well as the EADEM Cashmere Peel Gentle Exfoliating AHA Toner (150 ml for 42 $, full review coming soon) using a mixture of different acid: Tranexamic, Lactic, Citric, Azelaic and Polyhydroxy Acid, to gently exfoliate and refine the skin.

In addition to their skincare products their website houses different post about the relationship different authors, all People of Color, have with beauty, beauty products and beauty standards. A very interesting read for someone like me.

Dermelect Rapid Repair Daily Amino Gel Cleanser

New in from Dermelect

Dermelect seems to be providing me with a continuos stream of new products despite me still owing you the review of the first ones that made their way to me several months ago. I promise I have tested them already, I simply need to write up my experiences now and I’ll be able to share my thoughts.

Their newest release is the Dermelect Rapid Repair Daily Amino Gel Cleanser (120 ml for 36,95 €, full review coming soon) using a Vitamin C derivative as well as Licorice Root Extract to gently cleanse and brighten the skin.

The Firming Trio from innbeauty Project, featuring the Extreme Cream, the Bright and Tight Eye Cream and the Elastic Skin Serum, standing in front of a dark background with white flowers
The Firming Trio from innbeauty Project

New in from innbeauty Project

Another brand you have heard about on here before is innbeauty Project. Many of their products I have tried so far seem to be targeted at a younger audience with their bright and colorful packaging and focus on pore size and breakouts.

But they do have products aimed at people my age as well – meet the innbeauty Project Firming Trio (3 products for 89 $). Included are the innbeauty Project Elastic Skin Serum (30 ml for 42 $, full review coming soon) containing Growth Factors, the innbeauty Project Extreme Cream (50 ml for 48 $, full review coming soon) with Bio-Retinol, peptides and Ceramides and the innbeauty Project Bright and Tight Eye Cream (15 ml for 34 $, full review coming soon) with peptides, Vitamin C and Tranexamic Acid.

If you add up the individual prices, you will save quite a bit of money when buying the set, but that of course only makes sense if you enjoy all three products – the Bio-Retinol already gets a maior eye roll from me. As far as I can tell it doesn’t even refer to Bakuchiol, I will have to look into the ingredient list a little more to see what they actually mean.
