First Impressions: Anastasia Beverly Hills, Becca, Revlon and more

After the positive feedback I got on my latest First Impressions video (watch here in case you missed it), and because they are so much fun to film, I decided to stick to the concept and do another one.

The one thing I need to work on is my language (you´d think I would have learned that by now, with a two year old around that repeats everything) and my rambling. Oh wait, that makes two things. Maybe on my maths as well, to make it three.

But without further ado, here is the video and my thoughts on the products.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless

Claims:

This ultra-lightweight foundation contains micro-powders that absorb oil for a matte and poreless-looking finish
Unique formula goes beyond matching just skintone and also matches the texture of normal to oily skin for the ultimate natural fit.

My thoughts:

My biggest pet peeve: A foundation that claims matte, but isn´t. At least not throughout the whole wartime. On me it applies very natural, skin like, but gets significantly oily throughout the T-zone, so I have to powder/blot within four hours. The coverage is medium buildable, but it feels very lightweight on the skin. I am still on the fence about whether I like it or not.

Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eye Liner Pen

Claims:

The Luxe Longwear Eye Pen is the ONLY eyeliner you will ever use again. This luxurious formula is super pigmented for rich, beautiful black or brown. The felt applicator allows you to create precise lines that last all day.

My thoughts:

I like the pigmentation and the black-ness (totally a word), but it is a tiny bit drier than I would love. Perfect for very thin lines and precise wings, but not the ONLY eyeliner I will ever use, as they claim.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in “Opal” (poured)

Claims:

A rich, smooth cream formula that provides high color payoff for a soft, mattified, luminous finish.

My thoughts:

A mattified luminous finish? Sounds like an oxymoron to me, but I have to say, it works. I rarely wear highlighters as I don’t want to look greasy, but that one just adds a very subtle glow I can get on board with. Not for everyday use, but for special occasions and for filming.

Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in “Medium Brown”

Claims:

Waterproof brow color ideal for sculpting, defining and carving perfectly precise brows that won´t fade. Smudge-free, creamy formula glides on skin and adheres to hair.

My thoughts:

Oh my, that one is pigmented. After the brow disaster seen in the video I think I can say I mastered it. I don’t use it every day, but again for filming or for days when I know I will be out and about for ages and need my makeup to last. It really does not fade until removed, and you need so little, I don’t know how I should ever be able to finish the pot.

Revlon Cream Blush in “Coral Reef”:

Claims:

Blushing beauty is at your fingertips with this weightless, creamy formula. Blends easily into skin, adding a rich flush of color to your cheeks with a soft, satin finish. Looks freshly applied all day, up to eight hours.

My thoughts:

Looks freshly applied up to eight hours? No. But it does last very good on my skin and it sure does blend easily. One of my new favorite cream blushes, as the color is perfect for summer.

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in “Couture”

Claims:

This velvety soft formula with moisturizing shea butter and aloe is food-proof and doesn’t quit. Available in 20 suede shades. Apply once and go.

My thoughts:

If you read the claims carefully, they don’t say it is a moisturizing formula. They just say it contains moisturizing ingredients, the shea butter. It sure does not feel moisturizing on my lips, it gets sticky after some time and drying after a few hours. The stain it leaves is nice for four hours, but after eight hours of wear, the only color that is left is on my dry patches. Not a pretty look. But when reapplied, that isn’t an issue and I really like the color, so I guess I will get a lot of wear out of this one.
