I have been on a winning spree lately. Not in life, I am way too superstitious to jinx myself by saying that I was winning at life.
No, makeup wise. And the actual winning as in winning a giveaway.
After saying that I will of course no longer win anything ever again, but that is fine by me. Because last month I happened to win quite a few bits from the Guerlain Terracotta Collection 2017.
And like any good blogger would have done, my first thought was to write a review on the collection that is already out and available on the website here.
I of course filmed a video that shows quite a few of the products in action, so make sure to watch it on You Tube and in HD, but if you really can´t be bothered, I will write a few words about each one here as well.

The products
Guerlain Terracotta Sun Tonic Bronzer
The bronzing powder is what started the whole hype back in 1984 and I can totally understand why. The shade I got, Brunette, is a tad intense for me, so I will limit it´s use to summer only, but the soft texture and the very subtle shimmer have won me completely over. It blends like a dream, stays put all day and while I have not yet tested the waterproof claim, it is safe to say I am in love. Like everything in this collection is smells of Tiaré flowers, but only when you put your nose closely to the product. Which makes you look like an idiot. Just saying.
Guerlain Terracotta Kiss Kiss Lipstick Pink Sunrise
Are you a sunrise or a sunset person? No, not going to get all analytic on you here. I just wondered what makes this lipstick a pink sunrise over a pink sunset. I mean, it is very pigmented, which makes me think of set over rise, but I might be wrong. In the end ti doesn´t matter, because I adore both color and formula. It is my first Kiss Kiss lipstick, creamy, hydrating and opaque. Not long lasting in the slightest, it has average staying power on my lips, but so comfortable I can easily forgive that.
Guerlain Terracotta Kiss Kiss Lipstick Orange Peps
Anyone who knows me knows of my weakness for orange based reds. And this one? No exception. Kiss Kiss, I love you, Orange Peps!
Guerlain Terracotta Nourishing Dry Oil
I am a huge fan of oils, and for hot and sticky summer days it doesn´t get better than a dry oil. As the name would suggest it is an oil with the benefits of an oil minus the stickiness and heaviness that can come with, well, the oiliness. Of the oil. Oh, what a sentence! Long story short, this oils works like one, but doesn´t feel like one. It can be used face, body and hair, but I reserve it for my hair. The scent, albeit lovely, is so overpowering I would not be able to tolerate it all over my face or body. I mean, you would be able to smell me in Berlin if I used that as body oil. In my hair though it works a charm controlling the frizz and doubles up as a hair perfume.
Guerlain Terracotta Sunless Bronzing Mist
I have to admit, the last time I fake tanned my legs was before my daughter was born. Summer 2013. So if I say it is easy to use, you bet it is fool proof. In the video I share a comparison picture with one leg tanned and one not, but take my word: The effect, said to be buildable, is very natural and the scent, again Tiaré flower, much nicer than your usual self tanner scent. of course after a few hour of developing the tan the self-tanner-cookie scent does make an appearance, but chances are that you are already fast asleep by then.
Guerlain Terracotta Sun Moisturizer
Of course, every collection needs to have an “with the exception of” product. This is it. I love everything I have tried. But not that one. And it is not the formula (nice, lightweight, smells like Tiaré flower) or the claims (tan enhancing, UVA and UVB protection). No. It is the number. SPF 15. That is only a tiny step up from the SPF 6 coconut oil versions that dominated my adolescence (yes, I am old). I am not going back there. SPF 30 to 50, I don´t do less.
This is, of course, personal preference, so I will not toss that one, but add it to the giveaway pile for someone hopefully getting more use out of it. They do have an SPF 30 version in this collection though that would have gotten permission to stay.
Have you tried any of the Guerlain Terracotta collection items?
