Okay, I admit, this introduction will not get noticed as one of the most surprising or creative ones, but sometimes we all need to go the easy road.
The highest impact in my life lately has been becoming a mother.
There are several occasions in our life, like moving out, getting your first real job with real working hours or probably getting married, that profoundly change the way you live.
Deep down, in your very core, maybe not noticeable at first, the person you have been changes. Same happens when you have a baby.
Now I didn’t expect a mascara to have a similar effect, obviously.
But if you are called Clinique High Impact Mascara, you should at least be memorable in terms of lashes.
What Clinique claims:
Benefits: Volumizing, Thickening.
Kicks up the volume and length of each and every lash. Pure, deep color only adds to the impact. Lashes get instant volume and length.
Please note that there are several different versions of the High Impact Mascara (Waterproof, Extreme Volume, Curling), and that I tried the original one, no added claim.
One tube contains 8g of product and will set you back 20,50 € here or 16,50 US$ here. It is also available in store or online on Amazon here for 19,50 €.
There are two colors available, black and brown, and the brush is a pretty standard one, neither extremely big nor in a fancy shape.
When first opened, the mascara is slightly on the wetter side. I prefer my mascaras a little drier, but could easily work with it.
I did not experience flaking or panda eyes when using it and it was easily removed at the end of the day with any product I tried (Bioderma Micellar water, TBS Cleansing Oil, TBS Camomile Eye Makeup Remover).
But on to pictures:
1. Lashes curled, no product. Please excuse the old mascara sitting on my bottom lashes…
2. Lashes curled, several coats of product. And mascara smudged to the lid…
Does it live up to its claims?
About half of them.
It is volumizing, thickening my lashes, and the color is a lovely deep black that doesn’t get grey as the day goes on.
But does it add length? No. Not at all.
It does hold a curl just okay-ish, but it doesn’t claim to do, so I will not hold that against it.
Will I rebuy?
I want more drama to my life lashes, so I need more length, more curl, more… impact.
Who do I recommend it to?
If volume is your number one concern, that one will work great.

But if you want your mascara to have an impact on your lashes, this one isn’t the one to deliver.
Have you tried this mascara before?
