Monthly Blog Post Recap February 2020

February is the month of love, everyone will tell you so, and I couldn’t agree more. Not because I buy into the whole Valentines Day consumerism thing (we don’t celebrate and never have), but because we have two very important birthdays in our family.

The first one (look at me being all humble) is mine, and nothing starts the month of love better than having people around you to celebrate your birth and give you presents. Not that I care too much about presents *cough*, but a little celebration never hurt anyone.

And then up next, ten days later, my daughter turned six. Which I honestly still can’t believe, I mean, wasn’t she just born yesterday? Having her taught me so much about love (and about being really, REALLY tired and never having one f*ing second to myself ever again, just in case this was starting to feel soppy), so whenever her birthday comes up I turn into an emotional mess and start thinking about ways to freeze time.

That of course immediately stops once we have the house full with all her friends celebrating her birthday, leaving a mess wherever they go and being louder than a starting air plane. Reality always triumphs over emotions I guess.

Other than celebrating, crying and baking unicorn muffins I was sick (ten days of antibiotics, no fun), published two blog posts with half the pictures missing because my firewall decided to block my attempts to save them and of course wrote about skincare!

Skincare Reviews

The only proper skincare review that I did last month was the comparison between The Ordinary Buffet and The Ordinary Buffet + Copper Peptides 1%, combined with a short overview about Copper Peptides in skincare in general. The other one, my full overview of the pixi +C VIT Collection, talks more about a skincare makeup hybrid launch that I personally would put firmly into the makeup category.

Skincare Basics

That category got a lot more love this time, with a few videos of the #AskDoctorAnne series being published. At first I talked about the tricks of pairing your other actives with retinoids, then about mixing your other actives with Vitamin C, two topics I had a lot of requests about.
The next post, A Doctors Truth about Clean Beauty, was of a more intrinsic motivation – barely anyone that stops by here is on the lookout for Clean Beauty it seems.

Next up in the line of topics you keep asking about is the skins microbiome and the effects of pre and probiotics on the skin, so here is what you need to know about the microorganisms living on our skin.

Oh, and before I forget, I did write up a summary of last years Beauty Low Buy, complete with all my expenses, and decided to no longer do these monthly updates. Instead I showed my latest Empties and will probably be back with a haul again next month – balance, you know?

And I of course updated an old blog post of mine, my review of the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum, with a video to go with it.
