I may have said it before on the blog: I don´t like horror movies. Not even the more fun than scary ones.
Watching Zombieland gave me nightmares. Zombieland!
The one with Woody Harrelson.
And Bill Murray.
Yes, I know.
So why do I repeat it? Because tonight is Halloween, and scary movies seem to be loved by anyone this time of year.
Another thing that many people love, but that rarely works for me are moisturizers. Every once in a while I will find one that I do like, but most of the time I prefer my serums and face oils and skip them completely.
Did the pixi H2O Skindrink Pure Hydration Gel (PR-Sample) change my mind? Read on to find out.
What pixi claims:
This intense moisture gel delivers a burst of hydration to skin. The cooling formula with encapsulated water immediately rehydrates while plumping & stimulating complexion. Lightweight and enriched with green tea, aloe vera and rosemary to protect & heal.
Facts:
Prize and size
One bottle contains 35 ml and retails for 22 $ here, but is out of stock most of the time. See, I said it was loved! The moisturizer comes with a pump, which I really enjoy.
Texture and smell
The gel feels cooling upon application, distributes easily and smells like cucumber and aloe vera.
Application and effects
The product being a moisturizer, I just use one pump and distribute it on my face and neck with my fingers. My skin really feels hydrated, up to a point where I don´t enjoy it anymore. It never gets greasy or sticky, but I can constantly feel it on my face throughout the day – something that I dislike in many moisturizers.
Favorable ingredients:
- Glycerin: Moisturizing
- Allantoin: Soothing
- Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract: Rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory
- Portulaca Oleracea Extract: Soothing, brightening
- Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract: Anti-inflammatory, soothing
- Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract: Antiseptic
Unfavorable Ingredients:
- Silicones: They don´t do any harm in your skin, but some people don’t like the feeling.
- Fragrance
Does it live up to its claims?
Yes.
It is lightweight and delivers intense moisture.
Would I repurchase?
No.
I think it is a lovely moisturizer, but not suited to my skin type and personal preference. I will pass it on to my sister to mother, all of which have drier skins than I have.
Who do I recommend it to?
People with normal to dry skin that look for a lightweight daytime cream containing antioxidants and fighting redness.
I can see it being amazing in the summertime after sun exposure.
So while I guess I will never get on board with watching scary movies on Halloween, I may become a convert should my skin type change. But for the moment, I will go on watching dramas and rom-coms instead and slather my face in hydrating serums.
