When you go away for the weekend, something like the PURITO DermHA-3 Liquid is exactly what you want to pack. Weekend trips call for sensible packaging, something that is not my forte when it comes to skincare.
I once brought a whole extra bag with skincare products and devices on a three week summer holiday – in my defense: the bag was small and had to fit all the sunscreen – but if it is three nights or hand luggage only, I heavily rely on products that serve more than one purpose.
Let me tell you which purposes this toner would be packed for.
It comes as part of the PURITO Weekend Getaway Kit I reviewed here:
What the PURITO DermHA-3 Liquid claims
The DermHA-3 Liquid boosts the skin hydration and its ability to hold moisture. This formula benefits from the addition of panthenol to soothe and strengthens the skin barrier while delivering extra moisture to the skin. DermHA – 3 Liquid effectively increases skin elasticity, significantly improving the fine lines.
Facts about the PURITO DermHA-3 Liquid
Prize and size
As mine is part of a kit, it is a mini size. A full size contains 200 ml and is available for 21 $ on the website here. It is vegan and fragrance- and essential-oil-free. (More info: Is fragrance in your skincare bad for you?)
Texture and smell
The liquid itself looks baby blue in the bottle, but that is just the bottle, once poured out it is clear and very runny, with absolutely no scent.
How to use the PURITO DermHA-3 Liquid
Because I know I am getting this question: No, you do not need to bring a toner to have a complete routine. (More info: What is a toner and do you need it?) I just happen to like them as lightweight layer of hydration, especially if it is during summer. Most toners are watery and refreshing on days when even a serum can feel like it is too much.
While it initially behaves like water, the DermHA-3 Liquid gets thicker when applied to the skin. Not when you spread it, that is the same as rubbing water on the skin, but after it starts to sink in, it doesn’t leave tackiness behind, but a soft, smooth feeling, almost like a hydrating barrier.
I had expected it to belong to the average hydrating toner category, but was surprised by the effect this had. It was almost too hydrating for me to use in the mornings in the heat, but very welcome during the colder period. In the summer it helped soothe my sun and wind stressed skin at night.
Ingredients of the PURITO DermHA-3 Liquid
Hover the mouse over an ingredient for short explanation. Read more on INCIDecoder.
The first ingredient after water is Panthenol, known for its soothing and antiinflammatory properties. (More info: The benefits of Panthenol in skincare explained) Then there are three different forms (and molecular weights) of Hyaluronic Acid as well as Glycerin as humectants, the active components of Centella Asiatica Extract, Madecassoside, Asiaticoside, Madecassic Acid and Asiatic Acid and both Allantoin for soothing and Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, a salt from a component of the Licorice Root helping against hyperpigmentation. Does it live up to its claims?
Yes.
If you assume that by „increasing skin elasticity“ they mean that hydrated skin is bouncier, not structural changes.
How does it compare to…
La Roche Posay Cicaplast B5 Spray
While one is a spray and the other a toner, they are similar in texture and ingredients without being twins. Both contain Panthenol and Centella Asiatica, but La Roche Posay features only Glycerin as humectant and also has no Licorice Root Extract or Allantoin. It feels a little lighter on my skin, which is why out of the two I prefer it for layering year round.

Real Barrier Extreme Essence Toner
This toner is again similar in containing Centella and Panthenol, but offers Ceramides in addition. At the same time it is lacking Licorice Root Extract, which you might look for if you struggle with hyperpigmentation, and contains Lavender and Orange Oil that might be troublesome for those with sensitive skin. I find both to be similar in texture on the skin.

Balea Beauty Expert Hydration Toner
A niche product, but one that I was pretty excited about. This is from a German drugstore and very affordable, but also features soothing ingredients including Panthenol as well as hydration. Out of the ones shown here it is among the more lightweight ones and I enjoy it a lot during the heat, when my skin is a little upset from being at the beach or swimming in general.

Would I repurchase and which skin types do I recommend it to?
It is more than your average hydrating toner and works very well in circumstances where your skin is equally dehydrated and upset, making it perfect for travel. Depending on the time of day you want to use it it should work well on different skin types. Out of the ones I already have on rotation though it didn’t stand out enough to be a sure candidate for being repurchased.
