Sephora Rouge Infusion Lip Stain in 07 Strawberry Tint

I think the award for the most misleading product name of the month has to go to Sephora for their Rouge Infusion Lip Stain in Strawberry Tint.

When I went to Sephora this summer, I was determined to get the Lip Stain the whole Beauty Community seemed to be raving about: The Sephora Matte Lip Cream Stain in 01.
Amelia Liana, Lily Pebbles, Vivianna Does Makeup, all of my favorite enablers went on and on about it, and as I am easily tempted, it had top priority on my shopping list.

Unfortunately I am not only easily tempted, but also easily distracted.
And when I entered Makeup Heaven aka Sephora and took a quick look around, the exact name must have somehow slipped my mind.
I just could not, for the life of me, remember if I had to get the Matte Lip Cream Stain or the Rouge Infusion Lip Stain, or what the product had looked like.

But as a true makeup lover, there is an easy solution: I just bought both.

As it is the one I have been wearing most lately, I am going to talk about the Rouge Infusion Lip Stain in todays post.

A word of warning on the color:
If you think strawberries, a certain shade comes to mind. This shade is matched quite well by the shade seen on the corresponding lid, a pink-infused red.
The color inside is nowhere near any strawberry I have ever seen or even anywhere near the lid-color. But as it is a very pretty deep blue-toned red, I really enjoy wearing it during fall season.

Facts first:
The tube contains and is priced at 12,95 € here.
There are 14 colors available, ranging from nude to deep berry shades and it is free of parabens, sulfates and phthalates.
Sephora claims that it gives buildable coverage, recommending three thin layers for maximum intensity, and that it leaves a stain while being hydrating and non-sticky.
When applied with the doe-foot applicator, I notice a faint chemical smell, not very intense, that doesn’t linger.

Here some pictures:

Two layers. No foundation (ups).
After two hours, just having a glass of water. Sorry for the change in lightning.

Does it live up to its claims?
Hm.
After the first layer, the color was somewhat patchy on my lips, with the second layer it was even and intense. I used no lipliner and noticed no feathering or bleeding.
There was no stickiness, even though you felt it on your lips in a way hard to describe. „Chemical“ is the word that comes to my mind, although „chemical“ isn’t a feeling. There was no stinging, no adverse reaction, just a strange feeling.
It didn’t hydrate my lips, but didn’t dry them out either, they just stayed the way they were.
Although not claimed, it is kiss-proof, a major benefit if you enjoy your darker lips but still want to go on covering your baby girl in kisses.
The lasting power, however, was disappointing. As you can see in the pictures above, it didn’t even stay put for two hours without eating or hot beverages. I spared you a picture of my lips after a meal, as the product was mostly gone, and only the little lip lines were left stained.
Not a pretty sight.

Will I rebuy?
No. I will happily use it because I really enjoy the color, but I will not go back and buy another one.

Have you ever tried this range? Am I missing something, or is the third layer the one that glues it onto your lips?
