Sephora Rouge Lipstick Cream & Shine –

I keep telling Mr. Loca that a girl needs to have options. Which is why, despite the fact that I own more lipsticks that I could possibly use in a life span, I keep adding to my collection.

That is, of course, preposterous, if I keep doing what I am doing at the moment. Because whenever I am offered options, I choose the same colors over and over again. Which is okay, because they suit me. And which is not okay, because I am officially stuck in a makeup rut now and am going to drown in a flood of orange based reds sooner or later.

Mr. Loca, of course, will not be of much help with this issue, which is why I will turn to you, dear readers, for advice. I will show you the swatches of six of the Sephora Rouge Lipstick below. Please do tell me which one you reckon I should keep. Should I stay with the reds or venture outside my comfort zone?

Sephora Rouge Lipstick Cream – The Claims

A revamp of the iconic Sephora Lip Attitude Chic, this new hydrating formula provides improved coverage and is rife with pigment. The creamy texture softly glazes your lips, imparting just the right amount of color and sheen.

Sephora Rouge Lipstick Cream – My thoughts

Good coverage and ripe with pigment? Yes and yes. in fact the coverage is that good that I recommend you use a lip brush when applying the darker shades, as a wrong flick can leas to Joker-esque makeup situations. Creamy in texture (no surprises here) I don´t find them to be the most hydrating formula I have ever tried. In fact, I would say that they are not hydrating at all, but non drying either.

The wear time is around four hours on me (average on my lips) and they do leave a stain when fading.

Oh, and they smell fruity, very nice for summer.

Sephora Rouge Lipstick Shine – The Claims

Show-off your gorgeous smile with this easy-to-wear formula that offers heightened transparency and shine. Lips will look brilliant while drenched in this collection of glossy, shimmering, and metallic hues. The Hydra-Comfort complex blend of moisturizing oils and antioxidiant vitamin E ensures optimal comfort, while nourishing and protecting your lips. All glossy shades include clear pigments and carnauba wax for a dazzling, wet-lip look. The shimmering and metallic formulas contain 3D shimmering particles and shea butter for extreme radiance. Precise product design enables a flawless lip definition and the vast array of shades will compliment your entire wardrobe.

Sephora Rouge Lipstick Shine –  My thoughts

I have no clue what heightened transparency is supposed to mean, but these are way more opaque on my lips than I would have imagined. Swatched on my hand they just offer a hint of color, but actually applied on my lips they are quite pigmented. A glossy finish, yes, but despite the claims not nourishing at all, Not drying, no, but far from being a caring product.

Naturally the staying power of these is shorter than that of the creams, I get around two hours of wear before I feel like reapplying, but the lightweight formula makes up for that. And, after half a day of reapplying, they do leave a stain behind.

Sephora Rouge Lipstick Shine – The Colors

Sephora Rouge Lipstick Shine No 64
Sephora Rouge Lipstick Shine No 64 – a scary purple in the tube, it turns barbie pink on me. My nightmare!

Sephora Rouge Lipstick Shine No 14
Sephora Rouge Lipstick Shine No 14 – pink in the tube, it is a milky nude on me. It is the only  one that settles into my lip lines noticeably.

Sephora Rouge Lipstick Shine No 29
Sephora Rouge Lipstick Shine No 29 – this true red in the bullet leans very orange on me when applied. Just like I love my lipsticks for summer!

As you can see in the pictures above, the color in the bullet is not really true to what you are going to get when applying it to the lips. Not that you waste a lot of money, the lipsticks are 12 $ on the website here, but that along with the fact that there are quite a few of them and they only have numbers not names, this could lead to confusion.

Have you tried any Sephora lipsticks yet? And which colors would you have picked for me to keep?
