Acne is an inflammatory skin condition, and getting the inflammation down amidst the often irritating treatments we use often doesn’t get the attention it should. In their Tea Trica line SKIN1004 has the SKIN1004 Tea Trica Relief Ampoule that aims to do exactly that: Bring relief to your skin by calming the inflammation.

But does it deliver on that promise? In todays review we talk ingredients, how it performs on the skin and which skin types I would recommend it for!

What the SKIN1004 Tea Trica Relief Ampoule claims

A non-comedogenic ampoule with Tea tree, Pine tree and Cypress that calms the skin by providing relief to inflammations.

Facts about the SKIN1004 Tea Trica Relief Ampoule

Prize and size

You can get the Ampoule that comes in a green tinted bottle with a pipette in two different sizes: 30 ml, which is available for 9,80 $ on the website here, and 100 ml, available for 20,40 $.

I have the 100 ml size and can tell you from experience that even with daily use it will take months to get through it, so if you aren’t sure or like to switch up your products according to the seasons, the 30 ml is probably the better option despite costing more per ml.

The Ampoule is vegan.

Texture and smell

Just like the other products from the line I have tried, the Ampoule has the typical earthy Tea Tree scent, but it is the most subtle one and dissipates quickly. The product itself is clear, quite runny – I found it to have less body than the corresponding toner – and sinks in quickly without tackiness.

How to use the SKIN1004 Tea Trica Relief Ampoule

If you are confused what should go on first, Toner or Ampoule, you are probably not alone. (More info: Toner, Tonic, Essence – What is the difference?)

I would suggest not to get hung up on names as there is no legal definition of them anyway, but to decide it based on texture and go from thinnest to thickest, which in this case would mean the Ampoule would probably go on as first thing after cleansing. It is suitable to be used both morning or night or even twice a day, depending on your preferences and will work well with all other products in your routine.

Ingredients of the SKIN1004 Tea Trica Relief Ampoule

Hover the mouse over an ingredient for short explanation. Read more on INCIDecoder.
Centella Asiatica Extract, used in skincare for its antiinflammatory and soothing benefits, is the first ingredient here and present at 55%. (More info: The benefits of Centella Asiatica Extract in skincare explained) It is the brands signature ingredient and the highest in the Ampoule when you look at the whole Tea Trica line.

The second ingredient is Chamaecyparis Obtusa Water, cypress extract, that according to the manufacturer is hydrating, and then Tea Tree Water at 9,4%. Not Tea Tree Oil, that one comes later and is present at 0,02%, but the water that is created when distilling the essential oil. It is supposed to have the same active compounds present, but obviously at a much lower concentration. Then there is Glycerin for hydration, a few more plant extracts and lastly the already mentioned Tea Tree Oil, which is supposed to work as antiseptic and be antiinflammatory as well.

Does it live up to its claims?

Yes.

Based on the ingredients used, it will help calm inflammation. At least as long as you don’t react to any of the plant extracts, which is always possible.

How does it compare to…

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Poremizing Fresh Ampoule

The Poremizing Fresh Ampoule seems to target a slightly younger audience struggling with large pores and excess oiliness as one of the main mechanisms seems to be the attempt to absorb oil from the pores to reduce their size. In that it differs from the Tea Trica Ampoule that targets people with congestion and inflammation. In general though I think both work well for people younger than I am and with skin that is on the oily spectrum.

The Probio-Cica Intensive Ampoule also claims to reduce irritation, but is in my opinion a better option for those with more mature skin. The texture is more that of a light lotion rather than watery and it feels moe hydrating. In terms of soothing it focuses more on Panthenol, Allantoin and Ceramides and lacks the Tea Tree Oil, which might make it a better choice for those that don’t really get along with Tea Tree products very well.

Would I repurchase and which skin types do I recommend the SKIN1004 Tea Trica Relief Ampoule to?

So can the SKIN1004 Tea Trica Relief Ampoule help calm inflammation on your skin? I guess it can, but am not sure if it does so better than the SKIN1004 Centella Ampoule. It is lightweight, non greasy and hydrating though, so if you want the small added antiseptic benefit of the Tea Tree Oil, it might be a good option to try.

It should work on all skin types, but is best suited to those with some kind of inflammation, which is why it is marketed at acne prone skin. If your skin is sensitive, you can try it – it isn’t irritating in the slightest – but the plant extracts might be troublesome, so obviously patch test first.

I personally will stick to other ones though, as I prefer more hydration.
