I sometimes feel like I was born in the wrong century. Maybe not my set of mind, I guess I fit perfectly into these days with my tendency to speak my mind and to long for adventures, but my appearance would have been much more appreciated around 1600: Blonde, chubby and incredibly pale? Rubens, meet your muse.
Don´t get me wrong, I really enjoy living today, when I don’t necessarily die while giving birth and have a few more options for personal expression than posing nude for a painter. But the looks? Toned, slender and bronzed, that requires a lot of effort from my side.
The toned and slender part is not the topic of this blog post though, but the healthy bronzed look on my face shall be. And the product that I use to achieve it: Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning
What Clarins claims:
This refreshing, lightweight milk-lotion provides an easy, fast way to develop a natural-looking, bronzed effect for the face and décolleté.
Facts:
Prize and size
One bottle contains 125 ml and retails for 38 $ here or for 29.99 € here.
Texture and smell
It is a milk and looks like one, slightly runny, white and best applied with a cotton pad. There is a hint of that cookie smell that ancient self-tanners used to have, but fresher and not lingering on the face.
Application and effects
I put some on a cotton pad, dot that all over my face and neck and then use the cotton pad to distribute it evenly, making sure I get on to my ears and all the way down my neck to my décolleté. After 12 hours, I look like I spend a weekend relaxing in the sun, and with reapplication every other day, my face looks like I just returned from a beach holiday.
Does it live up to its claims?
Yes.
It feels lightweight and the bronzing effect is very natural. I never had any issues with it going patchy and it fades beautifully.
Would I repurchase?
Yes.
I can see this quickly becoming a summer staple, so I can look tanned without the damaging sun rays.
Who do I recommend it to?
Anyone.
If you don’t want to stay pale, that is. For those snow white beauties out there, no self tanner will be a recommendation.
But I need your recommendation now!
After I was so enamored with the face version, I discovered the Clarins Delectable Self-Tanning Mousse for the body in my mothers cupboard and immediately “borrowed” it for review reasons. To be fair, neither she nor I could tell how old it was, but it still smelled okay, so I decided to use it. The problem is, it goes patchy really easy on me, and doesn’t fade very nicely.
Have you tried it before and can help me out? Is it the product or is it already off?
And which other self tanner for the body could you recommend? I desperately need to match my legs to my face before our holiday comes up!
