I feel pretty, oh so pretty, I feel pretty and witty and bright…

Are you familiar with West Side Story? It is, I have to admit, one of the few musicals I care about. This and Lion King. Everything else, think Starlight Express or Cats, are totally lost on me.

But back to the song. I heard it when I was 13 and never was able to get it out of my mind. Not because it is a masterpiece in tune and lyrics (I wouldn´t be able to judge that anyway), but because the feeling it describes is one that I wanted for myself.

 

 

I want to dance the streets, pitying every girl that isn´t me. I want to feel so confident in my own skin that I shout from the rooftops how perfect I am.

Not that I have yet achieved it, which may be a good thing given my singing skills, but 13 or 38, the quest continues. And anything that reminds me of that song is very welcome.

Like the #pixipretties collection that landed at my doorstep recently.

You know I don´t like palettes, but I like easily blendable shades, I like warm tones for autumn and I like buttery soft textures, which makes me reach for this palette quite often. Some of the mattes require a little more work and there is quite a lot of fallout especially with the darker shades, but the easy transition you get when blending the shadows on the lid makes up for that.

Is it a must? No. But the shades are great quality and the color selection is very appealing.

 

 

 

 

pixi + Maryam Maquillage Strobe & Bronze Palette (*PR-Sample, 20 $ here)

 

Highlighter and I have for a long time ignored each other. Only recently I had to admit I have quite a collection (read here), but still I am very picky with what I put on my face. And while amazing in quality, none of the shades in this palette works with my skin tone. Application, wear time, everything is what you wish for, but I guess you need another complexion to actually make it work.

Is it a must? Depending on your complexion and preferences, maybe. For me, it is a pass.

 

 

pixi + Aspynovard Glow-y powder Rome Rose (*PR-Sample, 16 $ here)

 

It is love! Really, it is. Not autumnal in the slightest, this coral golden blush is like the softer sister of NARS Orgasm. My cheeks look radiant, alive, simply pretty without glitter emphasizing my pores or fine lines.

 

 

Is it a must? Yes. As blush, as a blush topper, I don´t ever want to be without it again.

 

 

MatteLast Liquid Lip Evening Rose (*PR-Sample, 14 $ here)

 

Please bear in mind that I am in no way a liquid lipstick connoisseur. I never wear them, I have no experience with them, I don´t really know how to apply them. So my thoughts on this one will be an amateurs view through and through. And it is not even part of the #pixipretties !

 

 

Rambling aside, I like it. It is neither drying nor hydrating, lasts through snacks and drinks for many hours, but needs to be reapplied after a full meal. Oh, and you only need a thin coat, applying too thick a layer leads to flaking. For me, it is the perfect office version of the dark lip. It stays put, I don´t have to worry about it and no constant touch ups are needed.

 

 

Is it a must? Probably not. But it is very nice to have!
