Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche – On battling a dragon

I recently had to battle a dragon in order to free my princess.

Now, not literally a dragon and not really a princess, but it sure felt similar. Or at least how I would imagine it to feel, as dragons are rare these days.

I had to face two middle aged men in order to free some Sephora goodies from customs. They were held captive because no invoice was attached, as I had won them in a giveaway.

The battle went back and forth, me trying to explain beauty blogs, Twitter and giveaways to people that barely grasped the concept of a lipstick, but in the end I was victorious.

Home with me came an adorable set of four Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks, each containing 1.5 g of product. They went by the name Honeycomb (described as a beige nude), Fig (a nude rose), Pepper (a dusty rose) and Nori (a deep brown red and my favorite of them all).

The set was exclusive to Sephora, but the individual lipsticks, containing 0.15 oz, are sold on the website for no less than 26 $.

Intrigued by the claim (“A collection of high-impact lipsticks in dimensional shades that have been handcrafted to deliver extreme moisture, soft texture and creamy wear.”) I decided to put them to test immediately, and they did not disappoint.

They are as comfortable as a princess´ kiss (again, only assuming it here, I haven´t kissed many princesses so far), and while I don’t find them to be extra hydrating, they don´t dry out my winter parched lips any further.

Instead they glide on creamily, stay put for 4-5 hours when drinking and snacking and are gracious enough not to migrate into my lip lines. After a full meal of fatty foods they do need reapplying, but any excuse to pull out the cute little tube and show it off is highly appreciated. They do make for a great conversation starter as well, judging by the amount of comments I get in the office. Where I, sadly, am once again the only person crazy about makeup, but that just as a side note.

The color selection I received is one full of crowd pleasers, and while I don´t see me wearing Fig on a regular basis all the others get a huge amount of love.

Honeycomb is my trusty sidekick when it comes to dark smokey eyes, with just the right amount of nudeness (totally a word) without giving me a corpse like appearance. Pepper, despite the slightly scary name, is the perfect MLBB shade, just a tiny bit deeper and a lot more even than my natural lip color, and Nori… Pepper, despite looking scary in the tube, is the perfect color for someone like me. A statement lip, but still wearable at the office, dark, but not too dark against fair complexions, and so easy in application that you can even apply it without a mirror. In an emergency. You know, one of those dark-lip-no-mirror-emergencies. They DO happen.

Just keep in mind that these are not kiss proof, so approach your kids with caution, otherwise they might look as if bruised.

Totally worth fighting a dragon for.
