Peptides are all the rage in an anti-aging skincare routine, especially the ones claiming to boost collagen production like the ones from the Matrixyl complex. But when packed into a facial spray rather than a serum like the Timeless HA Matrixyl 3000 Rose Spray, how much of the beneficial ingredients will actually reach your skin? And how do you best incorporate it in your existing routine to get the most out of its potential antiaging benefits?
Let’s take a closer look at ingredients, performance on the skin and the skin types it is best suited for in today’s review!
What the Timeless HA Matrixyl 3000 Rose Spray claims

Facts about the Timeless HA Matrixyl 3000 Rose Spray
Prize and size
One spray bottle contains 120 ml and is available for 17,49 € on the website here. There are four different versions available: Rose, Cucumber, Orange and Lavender, all at the same prize. It is vegan.
Texture and smell
Rose products can be hit or miss. While I love the scent of real roses, many artificial ones are too overpowering, too powdery or simply too sweet to work for me. In this spray though, which has a beautiful fine and lightweight mist, there is but a hint of rose, very natural. so even those usually opposed to rose scented anything will be able to use it.
How to use the Timeless HA Matrixyl 3000 Rose Spray
Facial mists are essentially just a toner in a bottle, so wherever you use your toner, you can use your facial mist. (More info: What is a toner and do I need one in my skincare routine?) That is basically at any time you feel like it – I mean, using it before cleansing wouldn’t make much sense, but once your face is cleansed, you can mist between every other step of your routine.
It is also possible to use it during the day, which feels nice and refreshing and might help your makeup to look better, but then I wouldn’t count on the potential skincare benefits as much as the concentration that is already low to begin with – it is a spray not a serum after all – needs to compete with all the layers you already have on your face.
Still, I love using a face mist during the day in the heat, but would reserve something like this with its potential benefits for my morning or evening skincare routine. Both morning and evening will work as none of the ingredients it contains are light sensitive and will work with whatever else you are using.

Hover the mouse over an ingredient for short explanation. Read more on INCIDecoder.
When you look at the ingredient list you will find two humectants, Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Extract for soothing, Rose Water which is supposed to act as an antioxidant and Calcium Panthotenate, the salt of Vitamin B 5, which is supposed to be soothing as well. (More info: The benefits of Hyaluronic Acid in skincare explained and The benefits of Panthenol in skincare explained)
And of course the Matrixyl 3000 complex, made from different ingredients and two peptides, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, one of which aims to boost collagen production while the other aims to protect collagen from degradation. Does it live up to its claims?
Mostly.
It refreshes and rehydrates during the day, but I am not sure how it is supposed to protect the skin? That aside, it is lovely and lightweight and doesn’t disrupt your makeup when used duting the day due to its fine mist.
How does it compare to…
Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Face Mist
This is definitely a splurge as you will know if you are familar with Omorovicza as brand, their products belong in the more expensive category. The Queen of Hungary Face Mist is refreshing, hydrating and has a beautiful scent, but lacks peptides. It mainly consists of hydrating ingredients, fermented ingredients and essential oil, making it not suitable for those with sensitive skin despite the use of Thermal Water. As I wouldn’t rely on the peptides in spray from to have a huge effect anyway though, the Queen of Hungary one is a firm favorite of mine during summer.

La Roche Posay Cicaplast B5 Spray
Moving away from face mists for refreshment and on to products I actually feel make a difference for my skin, like this one from La Roche Posay. Similar to the famous cream it has Panthenol and Centella Asiatica to soothe the skin and in that reminds me of the Timeless version minus the peptides. From my very subjective impression I find the one from La Roche Posay to be better at actually soothing, but not in a quantifiable way.

Would I repurchase and which skin types do I recommend the Timeless HA Matrixyl 3000 Rose Spray to?
I am partial to facial mists especially during the heat, and the Timeless Matrixyl 3000 HA Rose Spray is a very lovely one. The mist is lightweight enough to work both in your regular routine as well as during the day for refreshing the skin and the rose scent is so subtle you can even use it if you are not that into roses.
As it has additional soothing ingredients it should work on all skin types if you don’t have any allergies, but I will give you the usual disclaimer: People that haven’t reached their 30s yet don’t really need to incorporate peptides in their routine just yet.
