But short story even shorter, each month I choose a seasonal ad and try to recreate the models look with colors I already own.
Dressing up and awkward posing included!
Dior Colour Gradation Makeup Collection Spring 2017.
That one was a challenge. I don’t own many blue eyeshadows, and even though I know that blue is going to be big this year, I don´t think I will invest in many more. Achieving a gradient look when your range of color is limited… Oh well, we learn and grow. And in this case, the look was the request of the lovely Carol from Carol in a page, my favorite Italian blogger, so giving up was not an option.
I could have played it safe, you know, and opt for the coral gradient look, also known as “the other eye” in the advert. But playing it safe rarely is fun and having fun with makeup is what this series should really be about.
Blue eyes and pink lips it was then, the essence of everything I despise about 80s makeup. Graphic liner, something I can get on board with, and a gradient lip that, as always, was barely noticeable on my mouth. Looking back through the footage I think you can only get a hint of how it was meant to look in the final picture here.
Oh, don´t get me started on the posing for aforementioned final picture. Mr. Loca aka my favorite photographer of all times had a hard time trying to make me look like a model. In the end he used quite unorthodox commands that can only in part be repeated here on the blog for the sake of not getting my page labelled NSFW.
“Your eyes need to look like you are drunk and try to focus on the person before you.”
Well, you´ll be the judge if that was successful.
But enough of my rambling, on to the video! Which you, of course, should watch on YouTube and in HD to fully enjoy it.

Posing struggles aside, the blue seems to grow on me with every look I do (see another one here). Maybe a little more blue wouldn´t hurt? Where do you stand on blue eyeshadow?
