My favorite lipsticks during the colder months.

In fall and winter I am all about the dark lip colors.

Typical fall face

This is neither very unique, as “you wear berry shades in fall”, nor is it very clever regarding the dry and chapped lips I get whenever the temperatures drop and I turn up the heating. They don’t look good on their own, but forbidden when enhanced by a deep berry tone.

But with my trusted Nuxe Rêve de Miel lip balm and an emphasis on non-drying formulas I have worn them quite a lot this season.

Here are my favorites:

Starting left, going clockwise: P2 Corso Como, MAC Baron´s Rose, MAC Sinister, MAC Dark Deed, Maybelline lipliner

1. MAC “Baron´s Rose” (A Tartans Tale LE, 2010)
Baron´s Rose is a Cremesheen finish. It is described as a reddened berry with a golden shimmer, but on my it is a reddish brown on application, leaving a berry pink stain while it fades.
Although it is shimmery, there are no glitter particles to be seen (or felt) on the lips, which I quite like.
It is neither drying nor moisturizing and the staying power is about four hours without eating or drinking (not that I go that long without food or drinks in real life…). You have to reapply after eating or drinking hot beverages.

2. MAC “Sinister” (Disney Venomous Villains LE, 2010)
Sinister is a Lustre finish and my got-to lipstick if I am out and about with no mirror available for touch-ups. MAC describes it as a semi-sheer brown with pinky-plum shimmer. On me, it is a reddish-brown with golden shimmer, but very sheer. It just darkens my lips a little. As to be expected with a Lustre finish, it doesn’t last long, maybe one or two hours.
Mine looks a little scuffed, a sign that I carry it around a lot.

3. P2 “Corso Como” (Pure Color lipsticks)
This is the newest and most affordable (1,95 €!) addition to my stash. You can buy it in store in Germany and Austria only, but it is online available at eBay here for example.
The color is a deep burgundy red, it is opaque in one swipe and not drying. I tend to blot it down a little and reapply, this way it stays put for four hours straight and still looks decent after a snack. After a full meal I would recommend reapplying.

4. MAC “Dark Deed” (Disney Venomous Villains LE, 2010)
An Amplified finish, described as darkened blood red and my evening statement color. On my lips it looks berry red, is opaque in one swipe and neither drying nor moisturizing.
I always wear a lipliner with this one, otherwise it settles into the fine lines around my mouth.
It lasts about three hours before I notice fading, but it fades evenly.so you are not left with patchy lips.
You should reapply after eating.

5. Manhattan X-Treme Last Lipliner in 46N
This is the lipliner I pair with “Dark Deed” and “Corso Como”. It looks pretty on its own, but wearing only lipliner is way to drying for me during winter months.
In the pictures below I lined my lips and smudged it with my fingers to give the lipstick something to stick to.

I know that those are mostly Limited Edition shades, but it is what I have been loving (and wearing) this season.
