I don’t know about you, but when the name of the product is Skintegra Lunar Serum Concentrate, so with a reference to Luna or the moon, I assume it is meant for night time use only.

And really the brand says on the website it is ideal for evening use, but after thorough testing I can tell you that I much prefer it in the mornings.

Why? Let’s talk!

What the Skintegra Lunar Serum Concentrate claims

Lunar Serum Concentrate is a hydrating concentrated serum for advanced care of dehydrated skin displaying premature signs of aging.

Facts about the Skintegra Lunar Serum Concentrate

Prize and size

One opaque glass bottle with dropper contains 15 ml and is available for 17 € on the website here. It is fragrance-free and has a pH of 5.6 – 6 according to the website. (More info: Is fragrance in your skincare bad for you?)

Texture and smell

The dropper works well in picking up the product which is a little thicker than water, but still very light and easy to spread, clear and without a noticeable scent.

How to use the Skintegra Lunar Serum Concentrate

Half a dropper is enough to cover my face and bring it down my neck and it absorbs quickly and with only minimal tackiness. If I use more – the website recommends a full dropper for extra glow – it still absorbs just as well. The reason I prefer using it in the mornings is that it is very hydrating, plumping the skin instantly, and plays very well with everything used on top. And as the main active in it, the selection of peptides, can be used morning and night equally, I don’t want to waste that lovely plumpness on sleeping time.

Obviously using it at night will work just as well, so no matter what the website says, you can use it in your routine wherever it fits best.

Ingredients of the Skintegra Lunar Serum Concentrate

Hover the mouse over an ingredient for short explanation. Read more on INCIDecoder.

When it comes to peptides, it is important to note that they can have very different effects on the skin – some work for hydration, some for soothing and others help with the signs of aging. the ones used here are Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and -7, both part of the Matrixyl 3000 complex that helps stimulate collagen production and protect the existing collagen, so work on signs of aging and then Hexanoyl Dipeptide-3 Norleucine Acetate helping with cell shedding, so again with refining skins texture. That is paired with a bunch of Amino acids that mainly act as humectants, but might influence barrier function and collagen production as well. The Natural Moisturizing Factors are present for extra hydration as well as Glycerin and Hyaluronic Acid as humectants, and for extra soothing there is Panthenol, Madecassoside and fermented ingredients. Does it live up to its claims?

Yes.

Obviously advanced care isn’t a terminus technicus and could mean anything, but I agree with the sentiment that it seems best suited for more mature skin.

How does it compare to…

NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum 3 – my preferred way to get my copper peptide fix

NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum 3

I can’t talk about peptides without bringing up my preferred peptide serum, the NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum. It is comparable in texture, but has a blue color that comes from the copper the peptides are bound to and doesn’t have as much of an instant plumping effect. As it uses different peptides, there is no harm in using both, which is what I will probably do going forward.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum – a heritage product

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum

The Estée Lauder Serum is one of the serums you either love or hate. Love because it has a beautiful plumping and soothing effect in which it reminds me of the Skintegra Lunar Serum Concentrate, or hate because it doesn’t really contain ingredients that explain the quite hefty price tag. If you have been around for a while, you will know that I belong to the “love” part of the beauty community, simply because my skin just looks that much better when I have it in my routine. Maybe it is the combination of emollients, peptides and fermented ingredients, maybe it is my mind trying to justify the price I paid, I can’t say. What I can say is that it is thicker than the Skintegra version and that I prefer using it at night.

Would I repurchase and which skin types do I recommend the Skintegra Lunar Serum Concentrate to?

Overall the Skintegra Lunar Serum Concentrate is just what I want my serums to be: hydrating, but more than just hydrating, a pleasure to use and easy to fit into your routine whenever you want it to. The only minor downside is that given the fact that it has only 15 ml, it is more expensive than the other Skintegra products I have tried, but for me it is well worth paying that price. While it should work for all skin types, it is probably best suited to more mature skins as the young ones don’t really need all those peptides yet.
